At this time Adobe PDF (Portable Document Format) is the standard for cross platform online documents. To view PDF documents the Free Adobe Reader software is required. To date, over 750,000,000 copies of Adobe Reader have been downloaded worldwide.

Adobe PDF documents are created by converting popular document formats (such as Microsoft Word) into PDF format. The tool used to create PDF documents is called Adobe Acrobat.
