Often, an e-mail alert needs to contain a
pre-filled form, must be password protected or must have excellent
print characteristics. In these cases PDF is usually the best
choice.
The FormRouter “PDF E-mail Alert” merges data
and graphics submitted from an online form into a PDF template.
The resulting PDF document is e-mailed as a file attachment
to one or more recipients.
Step 1: Build a PDF form
Once a document is converted into a PDF, it then can be
edited in Adobe® Acrobat. FormRouter provides live Internet
based instruction and written documentation with every account
to get you up to speed.
Note: The PDF E-mail Alert can work with any form type that
FormRouter.Net supports including: HTML, ASP, ASP.NET and
FLASH.
Step
2: Build a PDF Form Template
The PDF Form Template is an ordinary PDF
form. Text and Graphics (.JPG & .GIF) posted from your
online form will merge into the fields in your PDF Template
File.
Data is merged where field names match. Example: if you have
a field in your online form called “FirstName”
and a field in your PDF Template called “FirstName”
then the data will be merged. Graphics will be merged into
field names that match, and will be sized to the dimensions
of the fields in your PDF Template.
Step 3:
Build a PDF E-mail Alert
Included in every FormRouter account is
an alert builder. One of the alerts offered is a "PDF
E-mail Alert". This alert is available to use if you
have licensed the “PDF E-mail Alert Upgrade” or
the “Advanced PDF Processor” Upgrade.
The PDF E-mail Alert provides an interface to upload a PDF
Form Template. It also allows you to configure PDF attachment
options.
Step 4:
Link the form to Websites, E-mails
After a form is built in your FormRouter
account a link is automatically generated. Links to forms
can be cut and pasted into E-mails or Websites.
Step 5:
Capture responses to a database automatically
FormRouter’s client tool can automatically
write online form responses securely into database or MS Outlook.
